The Man of Steel will finally return to the small screen this fall when Supergirl returns for its sophomore season. The character will be making an appearance in the first two episodes of season two and he’ll be played by none other than Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin. Once he makes his debut, it’s clear that we’ll see a lot of comparisons between his version of Superman and Henry Cavill’s by fans, but will he do the same?
Speaking with the Daily Mail at the Sydney Film Festival premiere of Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some, Hoechlin talked about his approach to Superman in the series:
“I never try to compare and contrast performances because it’s such an iconic character already. Superman is Superman so I’m just going to try to carry on the tradition of that and play that part.”
You’d think that the actor would be mostly looking forward to suiting up as Superman, but as it turns out, he’s more excited about playing Clark Kent:
“I think the fun is going to be finding where Clark Kent is in this world. I’m just excited to find out Clark’s sense of humor.”
It’s going to be interesting to see what he’ll do with the character and whether or not we’ll see more DC headliners making their way to the small screen down the line. If someone like Superman can appear in the DCTV universe, then why can’t the rest of the Justice League? What do you guys think? Sound-off your thoughts in the comment section.
