Former Superman Actor Dean Cain Shares His Thoughts On The DC Extended Universe

During a New York Comic-Con panel celebrating the 25th anniversary of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Dean Cain shared his opinions on the state of Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe.

Joining his former co-star Teri Hatcher on the panel to celebrate the anniversary of the live-action 90s Superman series, Dean Cain concurred with Hatcher’s comment on how reprising their roles in a Lois & Clark reboot might be confusing considering Warner Bros. and DC already has many versions of the characters going on at the moment. In fact, Cain noted that this may be one of the studio’s weaknesses, especially when compared to the competition:

“Maybe that’s why Marvel is kicking their butts in the movies right now.”

After inviting to the crowd to vocally express whether they believed the DC or Marvel films were better and stating that the results proved his point had “been made,” Cain agreed with Hatcher’s comment on how they can’t picture anyone else but K Callan and Eddie Jones when thinking of the Kents. The topic of Superman’s family then prompted Dean Cain to reveal that he is among the many who took issue with Clark Kent’s decision to let Jonathan Kent die in Man of Steel:

“Same. I don’t picture Kevin Costner. No offense. By the way, why didn’t Superman save him right then? Seriously, that made me so mad. I would have saved him, I’m just throwing it out there.”

Unfortunately, Warner Bros. and DC have made no decision on the future Superman films, though projects currently being developed include The BatmanThe Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Birds of PreyBlack AdamCyborgSupergirlNew GodsNightwing, a Deathstroke film, and a Joker origin movie set outside of the DCEU.
