RUMOR: Former Superman Henry Cavill Eyed To Replace Daniel Craig After James Bond 25

Former Superman actor Henry Cavill could be the next actor to take on the iconic role of James Bond in the 007 franchise as Eon Productions is rumored to be eyeing the Justice League star to replace Daniel Craig after the upcoming 25th installment of the franchise.

According to Crazy Days and Nights, Cavill is the top choice to take on the role after Craig, who will return for his fifth and final outing in Bond 25 which is now being directed by Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) following Danny Boyle’s exit from the franchise.

Boyle dropped out of the project last month due to creative differences with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. He was set to direct the film from a script written by John Hodge. Hodge’s script had been chosen in favor over the original script developed by Bond veteran screenwriters Neil Purvis and Robert Wade, who have written on every installment of the franchise since The World is Not Enough.

As for Cavill, negotiations for the Superman actor to return fell apart recently after Warner Bros. and Cavill’s reps at WME failed to reach an agreement for a cameo in the upcoming Shazam! film. The studio was hoping to feature the Last Son of Krypton in a post-credits scene which would have seen Cavill deliver only two lines. Scheduling conflicts were cited for the reason as to why the actor would not be able to appear. Cavill was almost cast as Bond previously in Casino Royale before the role ultimately went to Craig. He most recently signed on for the lead role in Netflix’s The Witcher.

With Bond 25 now back on track, filming is set to begin early next March at Pinewood Studios in London. The film was originally slated to hit theaters October 25, 2019, but has been pushed back following Boyle’s exit to hit theaters almost four months later on February 14, 2020.
