Superman Actor Henry Cavill Reveals How ‘James Bond’ Helped His Career

During an interview with GQ Germany, Superman actor Henry Cavill discussed how the James Bond film Casino Royale helped begin a new phase of his career.

Before Henry Cavill suited up as the Man of Steel, the actor was a contender for the role of James Bond in 2006’s reboot of the 007 franchise titled Casino Royale. While Henry Cavill did not land the coveted role, the actor explained that reports on how close he came to being cast as James Bond helped push his career forward in a new direction:

“Interestingly, it was a job I didn’t get, which was James Bond in Casino Royale. During the casting, I made it to the top two, according to rumors. Variety picked up on the story and suddenly I received a completely different kind of attention. Suddenly, my name had a certain weight and new opportunities opened. That’s how I got the role in The Tudors. That was the start of a new phase in my career.”

Daniel Craig was ultimately cast as the new 007, but Henry Cavill remains a popular choice among some fans to succeed the actor as James Bond after Craig retires from the role.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD.
