General Zod Releases Superman Villain Doomsday In ‘Krypton’ Season 2 Trailer

Oh my Zod! The second season of Krypton will see Doomsday and Brainiac face off in a bid for the fate of the titular home planet of Superman.

Judging from the trailer, the second season of the prequel series Krypton will feature three marquee Superman villains. Brainiac looks to be traveling back from the future in order to eliminate the House of El before Kal-El, aka Superman, is even born. There he meets General Zod (at least the ancestor of the Zod we know, who also happens to be a general).

It looks like at some point General Zod realizes that Brainiac cannot be killed and ultimately decides that the only way to win against something that cannot be killed is by fighting with a weapon that is unkillable. That is when we get a hard cut to what appears to be a cryostasis pod bearing what will later become the emblem of Superman. Inside the pod, we catch a brief glimpse of a spikey creature along with a disembodied voiceover that confirms it to be Doomsday. Talk about a workout even for Superman.

Take a look at the trailer yourself below:

If this is indeed how the second season of Krypton is going to turn out, then at least it will definitely appeal to diehard comic fans.

Here is the official synopsis for Krypton season 1:

Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, KRYPTON follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray, Seg-El encounters Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) who warns he’s under the clock to save his beloved world from chaos. Fighting to redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves, Seg is also faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson.

Krypton season one stars Cameron Cuffe, Georgina Campbell, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Aaron Pierre with Ian McElhinney.

Krypton season 2 will premiere on Syfy on an undetermined date.
