Rumor: ‘Swamp Thing’ Movie A Possibility At Warner Bros. After DC Universe Cancellation

A new rumor is floating around that Warner Bros. may develop a Swamp Thing movie after the DC Universe series cancellation.

It was a shock to many when Warner Bros. canceled DC Universe’s Swamp Thing after airing just one episode on the streaming service. Reviews for the series so far have been excellent, but unfortunately a miscalculation on a tax break has cut the series short. However, the DC character could live on in another medium. Bloody Disgusting can confirm a rumor that Warner Bros. is thinking about developing a Swamp Thing film. The rumor is that James Wan would be on board, but it would be a re-imagining of the DC character and not tied to the recently canceled TV series.

This wouldn’t be Swamp Thing’s first foray on the big screen. Horror legend Wes Craven directed a film in 1982 based on the DC character. A sequel to that film was also made in 1989 titled, The Return of Swamp Thing.

SWAMP THING follows Abby Arcane as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.

Swamp Thing stars Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Maria Sten as Liz, Henderson Wade as Matt Cable, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, Jennifer Beals as an original character created for the series, Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue, Ian Ziering as Blue Devil, and Derek Mears as the titular creature.

Swamp Thing is now available exclusively on DC Universe.
