Taika Waititi Breaks Silence On ‘Star Wars’ Directing News

Taika Waititi has broken his silence regarding his recently revealed Star Wars directing news.

Today was an exceptionally awesome Star Wars day for fans as they received tons of cool news, including the confirmation that Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi would be directing an upcoming film in the franchise. While details on Waititi’s Star Wars film are slim to none, the Thor director was rumored to be helming a film in the franchise as early as February. He adamantly denied that he would be directing a film, but that’s clearly not the case anymore.

Taika Waititi broke his silence on the news on Instagram, sharing how he was pretty much fooling us all the entire time.

Taika Waititi will also be co-writing the film and will be joined by 1917 scribe Krysty Wilson-Cairns. Interestingly, both Waititi and Wilson-Cairns were nominated for Best Screenplay at this year’s Academy Awards, in Best Adapted and Best Original categories, respectively. There’s no telling when the Waititi directed film will hit cinemas, though it’ll certainly come out after 2022 when Thor: Love and Thunder is released.
