Thor: Love and Thunder is also utilizing the StageCraft technology from The Mandalorian.
Before filming started on Thor: Love and Thunder, it was revealed director Taika Waititi would utilize the groundbreaking ILM StageCraft technology on the Marvel sequel. This comes after “The Volume” was first used on The Mandalorian, a show Waititi directed an episode of. It now sounds like Waititi is reuniting with the Star Wars show’s cinematographer Baz Idoine based on recent comments the DP made while talking to Kea:
“I can’t talk much about them, but I’m working in Australia at the moment on Thor: Love and Thunder, which I’ll be working on until the end of 2021. Then, I’ll just see what happens. Personally, my wife and I are hoping to move back to New Zealand next year.”
Baz Idoine working on Thor: Love and Thunder with Taika Waititi makes a ton of sense given his experience with the new technology. The Mandalorian is also one of the most stunning TV shows of all time, and bringing Idoine’s visuals to the Marvel Cinematic Universe adds even more anticipation to the upcoming Thor film.
Do you think Taika Waititi will also work with Baz Idoine on his upcoming Star Wars film too? Feel free to speculate in the comments section below!
Full details on the plot for Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder are currently being kept under lock and key, though the film will be partly based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, in which Jane Foster becomes the new Thor. Directed by Taika Waititi from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, and Christian Bale.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released on May 6, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
