With Logan being Hugh Jackman’s final outing as Wolverine and the X-Men franchise now under the control of Marvel Studios, fans are already proposing potential actors for key roles in the new incarnation of the mutants’ series. In recent months, Kingsman star Taron Egerton has emerged as one of the top fan choices to succeed Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot of the X-Men franchise.
During a conversation with Variety, Taron Egerton expressed how much he would love to join the Marvel Universe but noted that he is unsure if the Wolverine role is a realistic prospect for him:
“I love Marvel and I love the movies. I’d love the excuse to get in shape. I’d love to be a part of it. Whether that one’s realistic or not, I don’t know.”
When asked if he could grow the facial hair for which Wolverine is famous, Taron Egerton replied, “Not as well as Hugh.”

Marvel Studios, which now holds the film rights to Wolverine and the X-Men following Disney’s acquisitions of 21st Century Fox, confirmed plans to include mutants in the MCU during its 2019 San Diego Comic-Con presentation in Hall H. However, the studio is reportedly in no rush to introduce the X-Men to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, meaning it will likely be some time before we learn who will replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
