‘Titans’: Work On Television Series Already Underway, Says Geoff Johns

From the sound of things, DC’s Titans show is already well underway. According to DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns, Akiva Goldsman has moved his focus to this series starting this week.

Johns casually revealed this information via Twitter, as he teased the Teen Titans show as being something that recently started. So far, it’s been confirmed that the show will feature Dick Grayson (Nightwing), Rachel Roth (Raven), Garfield Logan (Beast Boy), and Koriand’r (Starfire), although other heroes may appear. The first season will be a 13-episode run and will be released through DC’s as-of-yet unnamed streaming service.

There’s currently no word whether or not this series will be part of an existing television universe (like how The Flash and Arrow are part of a shared setting) or if this will be its own thing (akin to Gotham). Given the development of a Nightwing movie, it doesn’t seem like this will be a part of the DC Extended Universe, in any case.

Titans explores one of the most popular comic book teams ever. It follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven and others.”

Titans does not have an airdate as of yet, but it will be arriving on DC’s upcoming streaming service. Filming is rumored to begin in the Autumn of this year.
