As it stands, Terminator: Dark Fate seems to be the best-received of the post-Terminator 2: Judgment Day sequels, but did audiences reflect that sentiment? Based on CinemaScore, the answer would appear to be “yes”, but perhaps not as enthusiastically as Paramount may have hoped.
CinemaScore have revealed that Terminator: Dark Fate has a B+ CinemaScore, based on people who were polled on the opening Friday for the film. With how CinemaScore works, that’s a perfectly fine result, but not ideal. Check it out the official announcement below:
With how CinemaScore tends to be inflated, anything movie that scores below an “A-” may have trouble having legs at the box office, but usually, movies with a “B+” score can get by just fine. Terminator: Dark Fate is going to need to leg out in order to turn a profit at the current rate, given that the opening weekend projection is being seen as a disappointment due to a decrease compared to pre-release expectations, in spite of more positive reviews for this film compared to other recent installments. The film will also need to make its presence known internationally in order to clear the break-even point, as domestic interest in the franchise has declined for quite some time.
