Exclusive: ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Details Reveal Big Changes To Terminator Universe

Terminator: Dark Fate looks to change the Terminator universe as we know it and it just might be for the better.

Fans of the Terminator franchise have been going through it over the years. Films like Genisys, Salvation and Rise of the Machines are arguably the worst in the franchise and fans had given up hope after their release. That is until James Cameron announced he was developing a new Terminator film with Deadpool director Tim Miller at the helm.

Since then, we’ve received multiple images and a teaser trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate and the reaction to those was that it looks more of the same. But fret not Terminator fans, as Dark Fate appears to be in good hands with Tim Miller. According to multiple sources, Skydance held a test screening for Dark Fate this week and the reactions were very positive. Spoilers ahead!

Heroic Hollywood has learned that in Terminator: Dark Fate, Skynet is no more. Legion has become the new Skynet in an alternate future timeline post Terminator 2. Legion sends a Terminator to kill John Connor in 1998 and in his place a new savior rises in the future — Dani. So, an augmented human called Grace is sent to protect Dani and Sarah Connor joins in on the fight to help protect the child.

The upcoming film is bringing back original Terminator stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton. James Cameron returns to the franchise as a producer, having conceived the story with director Tim Miller and Skydance’s David Ellison.

Dark Fate will also introduce newcomers Mackenzie Davis and Natalie Reyes, as well as Gabriel Luna (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) who plays a brand new Terminator in the film. Plot details remain under wraps, but Miller’s project is a direct sequel to Judgment Day, ignoring all the other films in the franchise.

Terminator: Dark Fate opens in theaters on November 1, 2019.
