A new report says that the script for The Batman has already been completed and that both Ben Affleck and Warner Bros. are happy with it.
Kroll is the same reporter who actually broke the story that Ben Affleck would no longer be directing The Batman last month, so he’s a pretty reliable source on this type of thing. Batman-News reached out to Kroll on Twitter, asking if it was true that the film’s script was being completely rewritten. Check out his response in the tweet below:
This news seems to conflict with previous rumors that were all over the place, with several claiming that the script for the next Batman solo outing would be receiving a major page-one rewrite. Presumably, this latest draft would be the one that Academy Award-winning Argo scribe Chris Terrio worked on, but it seems that the work required was nowhere near as substantial as previously reported. Affleck co-wrote the original draft with comic book writer extraordinaire Geoff Johns.
In another tweet, Kroll stated, “To be fair, people overreact to rewrite or script work all the time. It just shows WB wants to get it right.” People overreact? On the Internet? I’ve never heard of such a thing!
The Batman is still expected to hit theaters sometime in 2019, but no release date has been set as of this writing. Production on the film was originally supposed to start this year, but this will most likely be pushed back as Warner Bros. continues their search for a new director.
