The Collector’s Fortress Might Be In ‘Thor: Ragnarok’

A potential easter egg in the 'Thor: Ragnarok' trailer may be teasing a role for Benicio Del Toro's character, The Collector, and his fortress in the film.

The CollectorDue to a great find by SlashFilm, we might have our first look at The Collector’s Fortress in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although the Collector has appeared at the end of Thor: The Dark World, and prominently in Guardians of the Galaxy, his Fortress has not yet debuted in a film.

Disney is in the middle of transforming the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure into The Collector’s Fortress, which will house the attraction, Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: Breakout!

Below is the tower in the middle of remodeling:

Deep inside his fortress-like collection, the mysterious Taneleer Tivan (aka The Collector) is displaying his newest acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy. They are trapped in customized display cases, suspended over a vast abyss. Unbeknownst to their unscrupulous captor, the intrepid Rocket has escaped and is enlisting the Collector’s VIP guests for help. Guests board a gantry lift, which launches them into a chaotic and hilarious adventure as they join Rocket in an attempt to break his fellow Guardians out of captivity.

SlashFilm points out that a building just above the shoulder of The Grandmaster in the new Thor: Ragnarok trailer looks very similar to the one being built at the DCA. Decide for yourself below:

Could it be that The Collector will make a surprise appearance in the third Thor film before Infinity War? We already know that he will not appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so maybe he will show up here to make up for that. However, it should be noted that Benicio Del Toro is not listed as part of the cast for Thor: Ragnarok, but you never know.

In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok releases November 3, but while you wait check out Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! when it opens on May 27 at Disney California Adventure park.
