The actor had already filmed his Joker role by that point and become one of the greatest performances on film. Heath Ledger’s unforgettable Joker performance earned him an Academy Award for best supporting actor posthumously in 2009. With the win, Heath Ledger became the first actor to earn a major award for a comic book film. Joaquin Phoenix is the latest actor to play the clown prince of crime, here is the synopsis for Joker:

Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
