‘The Dark Knight’: Multiple Upcoming IMAX Screenings Sold Out Almost Immediately

The Dark Knight is headed back to IMAX in 70MM later this year and tickets sold out in multiple areas very quickly.

Eleven years ago, The Dark Knight hit theaters and created so much hype from audience members that complaints regarding the film’s lack of a Best Picture nomination at the 2009 Academy Awards resulted in the academy expanding how many films it includes in the category each year, which continues today.

One of the most enticing aspects about The Dark Knight, when it premiered in 2008, was director Christopher Nolan’s incredible use of the IMAX format, which he continues to implement into his films to this day.

According to a report from The Wrap, some of the upcoming 70mm IMAX screenings of The Dark Knight, which will be accompanied by a live Q&A with director Christopher Nolan, sold out less than sixty seconds after they were posted online. The theaters that sold out in the impressive time frame are the AMC Lincoln Square screening in New York, as well as the screening that will take place in Los Angeles.

Tickets are still available for those who wish to see the IMAX presentation in the three additional locations on the tour: AMC Metreon in San Francisco, Cinesphere Ontario Place in Toronto, and the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding the upcoming IMAX screenings of The Dark Knight as soon as more information becomes available. Are you looking forward to The Dark Knight‘s return to IMAX screens? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
