Tom Cavanagh has had a very interesting history with The CW’s The Flash. From playing Dr. Wells to HW, to Sherloque, to even Eobard Thawne, Tom Cavanagh has portrayed an eclectic group of characters on the hit superhero series. Currently, the actor reprises his Eobard Thawne role when Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy) visits the future for their secret meetings. In Eobard Thawne’s cell is a very important timer that many fans have come to assume will lead to his execution but an intriguing new fan theory says otherwise.
The new theory appeared on Reddit and suggests that the countdown will not lead to the execution of Tom Cavanagh’s iconic villain, but instead is counting down the time to when he will receive the metahuman cure, which was finally perfected in one of the most recent episodes of The Flash.
