‘The Flash’ Vanishing Has Key Role In Crisis On Infinite Earths Crossover

The Flash vanishing cliffhanger at the end of the show’s pilot may have a key role on the next Arrowverse crossover, Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Todd Helbing, showrunner of The Flash, recently told TV Guide that they’ve been hinting at the Crisis On Infinite Earths storyline for a while and that the next crossover will be heavily influenced by Barry Allen’s already announced disappearance:

“We’ve certainly been teasing [the headline] a long time, but it’s a major factor in next year’s crossover. There will be little tidbits here and there that people will be able to start to put together.”

If you’re not familiar with the Crisis On Infinite Earths storyline from the comics, the story hinges on the Anti-Monitor trying to destroy all the versions of Earth of the Multiverse, while Brainiac recruits other villains to conquer what’s left. With this, the Monitor unites the superheroes to defeat the threat. Ultimately, heroes and villains band together and defeat the Anti-Monitor. This storyline is famous because of its death toll on the DC universe which includes none other than Barry Allen and Supergirl.

Here is the synopsis for the next episode of The Flash: 

SEEING RED – During a battle with Cicada (Chris Klein), Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) is severely injured. Due to Cicada’s dampening powers, Nora’s speed healing isn’t working, leaving Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) scared for their daughter’s future. Upset about his injured child, The Flash is filled with rage and confronts Cicada in a brutal battle. Meanwhile, Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) keeps interfering with Caitlin’s work on the cure. Marcus Stokes directed the episode written by Judalina Neira & Thomas Pound.

The Flash airs Tuesday nights on The CW. Seeing Red will debut on January 22. The season finale Memorabilia is scheduled for January 29.
