The new Star Wars series has been written by Jon Favreau who also serves as executive producer along with Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni, Colin Wilson, and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Karen Gilchrist will co-executive produce. In addition to executive producing, Filoni has also been confirmed to direct the first episode with additional episodes helmed by Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok).
Here’s the official synopsis for The Mandalorian:
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte.
The Mandalorian will debut exclusively on Disney’s upcoming direct to consumer streaming service, which is set to launch November 12. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the Star Wars franchise as we learn it.
