The New Mutants, as well as 20th Century Fox’s other X-Men film Dark Phoenix, has had a very bumpy production. After releasing an intriguing teaser on October 13, 2017, The New Mutants had its release date pushed back multiple times for hefty reshoots. The new footage was reportedly going to make the film lean more into the horror elements that was showcased in the trailer.
Anya Taylor-Joy was out promoting her latest venture into the superhero genre, the Split and Unbreakable sequel titled Glass, when she revealed to The Upcoming that she’s as clueless as all X-Men fans are about the Marvel horror film’s new release date.
“That, uh, it’s coming your way at some point! And my character is sassy as fuck and mental and Russian and crazy and I lover her.”
The new addition to the X-Men film franchise has established an August 2019 release date but even that has been put into question due to a recent promo spotted that showed a new September release date. Although The New Mutants was supposed to set up a series of films, there’s no word yet on whether or not that concept will survive the new Disney/Fox deal.
