‘The Suicide Squad’ Director James Gunn Warns Fans Of Fake Casting Call

The Suicide Squad director James Gunn has confirmed that there’s a fake casting call for his sequel on the loose.

Addressing his fans via Instagram, James Gunn has confirmed that he is not casting extras for the roles of “soldiers soldiers” [sic] before thanking DC Comics fans who brought the fake casting call to his attention. He also notes that the movie is titled The Suicide Squad, as opposed to Suicide Squad 2, which is what the casting call says.

A general word of warning is that most casting call websites are absolutely fake, and whatever site this image was pulled from was clearly one of them. Rest assured, if DC Films are looking for extras, they have ways of letting people know.

The first Suicide Squad followed a team of supervillains who were recruited by the government for a dangerous black ops mission in exchange for reduced sentences. The ensemble cast included Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as The Joker. James Gunn is expected to deliver on the fresh take on the supervillain team in his upcoming movie, with Idris Elba playing a new character, Jai Courtney reprising his role as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman playing Rick Flag again, David Dastmalchian starring as Polka-Dot Man, and Viola Davis returning as Amanda Waller. John Cena and Nathan Fillion are reportedly in talks for an undisclosed roles, with Steve Agee voicing King Shark.

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is one of many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The BatmanThe FlashBirds of PreyBlack AdamSupergirl and New Gods.

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters on August 6, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on Nathan Fillion, James Gunn and The Suicide Squad as we learn it!
