‘The Walking Dead’ Project Focusing On One Survivor In Development

AMC has a lot of ideas for The Walking Dead franchise and one project in development will focus on a sole survivor in the zombie apocalypse.

While speaking with Deadline, The Walking Dead chief content creator Scott Gimple spoke at length about the upcoming Walking Dead series that is set to focus on kids who grew up in the zombie apocalypse. However, he also touched on other Walking Dead spinoff ideas. One that he brought up would focus on a single survivor who is traveling the world alone.  He compared the project to other films like Omega Man and Cast Away. However, he didn’t give us any idea as to whether or not it would be a movie, a full series, or a mini-series:

“One of my favorite projects, one that’s sort of hovering around, is really about a person, a single person in the apocalypse. We don’t really see anyone else there because of the situation they’re in. Then you have a story that’s like Cast Away or Omega Man, I suppose.”

What do you all make of this idea? Would a project focus on a single survivor make for a good Walking Dead story? Is AMC already stretching the franchise to its breaking point? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for The Walking Dead season 10:

A few months after the end of Season 9, the collected communities are still dealing with the after effects of Alpha’s horrific display of power, reluctantly respecting the new border imposed on them, all while organizing themselves into a militia-style fighting force, preparing for a battle that may be unavoidable.

The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Khary Payton, Callan McAuliffe, Avi Nash, and Samantha Morton as Alpha.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
