According to Fantha Tracks, Lucasfilm is already prepping a third series to begin filming in the UK, likely at Pinewood Studios UK, under the guise of SERIES III PRODUCTIONS (UK) LIMITED. The site reports that the production name was previously registered on the public UK companies register on October 12th of last year.
While recent rumors suggest Lucasfilm is planning a third Star Wars series, nothing has been officially confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney. Rumors suggest a limited series featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi is in development and is the next top priority for the Star Wars franchise on Disney+. It seems Lucasfilm could be realizing its previous plans for an Obi-Wan Kenobi film in a limited series which is reported to be as many as six episodes.
Interestingly enough, the site also reveals the name E&E INDUSTRIES (UK) LIMITED was also registered on the same day which FanthaTracks reports may be the production name for the first installment of Rian Johnson’s planned trilogy.
Officially, Lucasfilm has announced two live-action Star Wars television series on Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+. Diego Luna will be reprising his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story role as Cassian Andor in a prequel series which will follow the Rebel spy working as an intelligence operative during the formative years of the Rebel Alliance. Production on the project is expected to begin later this year after the actor completes his work on the second season of Narcos: Mexico.
But first up is The Mandalorian which will feature Pedro Pascal as a lone gunslinger after the events of Return of the Jedi. The series which hails from Jon Favreau also stars Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. The series has completed production and is expected to premiere with the launch of Disney+ this year.
On the film side, Lucasfilm is set to conclude the Skywalker Saga in December with Star Wars: Episode IX, with both Rian Johnson and Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss set to usher in two new trilogies of the franchise.
So what do you think? Does this Star Wars news get you excited? What Star Wars series do you want to see on Disney+?
