‘Thor: Ragnarok’: Chris Hemsworth Requested To Shoot In Australia

Chris Hemsworth expresses his gratitude to Marvel for allowing some principal photography on 'Thor: Ragnarok' to be done in Australia.

Marvel’s upcoming film, Thor: Ragnarok looks to be one of the most refreshing superhero films as of late. Director Taika Waititi seems to have brought out a different type of energy out of stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and the rest of the characters within the world of Asgard.

Hemsworth recently expressed that he had the time of his life working with Waititi and the cast on his third standalone outing as the God of Thunder. Part of the reason why Hemsworth enjoyed himself was because he was able to convince Marvel to shoot some of the film in Australia – where he’s from:

“I asked if we could shoot in Australia and thankfully the Marvel guys said they would look into it but couldn’t promise anything. To me, to be home again for more than two weeks would be fantastic. And it worked out. It was so good.”

Hemsworth also reflected on his experience shooting the film in – even describing it as one of the best shoots he’s ever had:

“It was so nice being there. There’s just such a familiarity with the crew and everything here. And I get to sleep in my own bed. But I also think there’s such wonderful talent here as well, in the cast and crew across the board. So it was fantastic. And the weather was brilliant. I don’t think we got rained out at all. It’s just been one of the best shoots I’ve been part of.”

The upcoming film is only a little over a month away, and with all of the promotional material we continue to get for it, it looks like we are in for quite a unique adventure with Thor, Loki and the Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

Directed by Taika Waititi, Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson,  Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Sir Anthony Hopkins. Here’s the official synopsis:

In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
