‘Thor: Ragnarok’ EW Cover Offers First Official Look At Hela & Valkyrie

Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder is pictured alongside Cate Blanchett's Hela and Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie for EW's first look at Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok.

Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder is pictured alongside Cate Blanchett’s Hela and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie on the cover of Entertainment Weekly’s latest issue, which offers up our first official look at Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok.

As you can see on the cover, Thor has a brand new look, confirming what we previously heard about the character sporting a much shorter hairstyle in the threequel. Hemsworth spoke with the magazine about not having to spend an extra hour on a makeup chair every morning to get Thor’s signature hair right:

“It was nice not to have to sit in the makeup chair for that hour each morning. It felt like a rebirth for me as the actor but also as the character.”

EW reveals that Hela is unleashed after she’s accidently freed from some sort of prison, where she had been locked away for quite some time. Says Blanchett:

“She’s been locked away for millennia getting more and more cross, and then, with a mistake, she gets unleashed and she ain’t getting back in that box.”

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok also stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Sir Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge and Sam Neill in an undisclosed role. Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

In Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok opens on November 3, 2017.
