‘Thor: Ragnarok’: Jamie Alexander Opens Up About Lady Sif’s Absence

Jamie Alexander won't be making an appearance as Lady Sif in the upcoming 'Thor: Ragnarok' — but it wasn't for a lack of trying.

While Thor: Ragnarok will see the return of a few MCU favorites, along with some exciting new faces, Jamie Alexander’s Lady Sif will not be one of them — but that’s not to say Marvel didn’t want’t her. In fact, it was quite the opposite.

In a recent interview, Alexander cleared the air and said it was simply a matter of timing and that she was “bummed” about not being able to make an appearance.

“I was asked, but the timing of when they were going to shoot and when Blindspot was gonna shoot — it was pretty much the same time,” Alexander told Yahoo. “So there was a conflict there.

“I was hoping for more of a notice from [the studio] so I could make it work, but it was a short notice thing. They called and said, ‘Hey, by the way, would you come do this?’ I said there is no way I can make that work that fast.”

But who could blame her? Ragnarok was shot in Australia. “They were on a different continent!” Alexander added. Make no mistake though, Alexander is still looking forward to the film as well as her future involvement with the MCU — whenever that may be.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing it,” Alexander said. “It will be nice to see all those great people in that movie. I’m super excited for it. I also heard that it’s incredibly funny which makes me really happy.”

“I love Marvel. I’d be happy to do other projects with them at any time. They’re a great company — I love all the guys and girls over there — they always are able to get a really fun cast for almost every project they have, which is often. And, of course, who doesn’t want to be a superhero?”

Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings) and Erik Selvig (Stellan Skarsgard) are also among those who aren’t making appearances in the film, although that was to be expected.

Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, Idris Elba, Karl Urban and Jeff Goldblum. You can read the synopsis for the film below:

“Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.”

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on Nov. 3.
