Based off of all the information we got from Marvel’s upcoming film, Thor: Ragnarok, we have learned that much of the film will indeed take place away from Earth and into the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – whether it is Asgard or other fantastical realms. While we can bet that much of the sequel will explore those cosmic realms, it looks like we will see some scenes that are indeed Earthbound. According to some set photos, there will be scenes that take place in New York.
The movie is currently being filmed at Brisbane, Australia, and although there seems to be no signs of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and/or Loki (Tom Hiddleston), the set photos show taxi cabs and school buses from New York City. Traffic signals were also decorated to look more like New York’s signals in preparation for filming.
It’s safe to assume that the scenes in New York will only serve as a small portion of the film’s setting. Kevin Feige has expressed how the film will have little Earth compared to the previous two films. What kinds of scenes do you think we will see in the new movie? Will this be another spectacular action set-piece? Either way, let’s remain excited for what director Taika Waititi has in store for us next Autumn. You can check out the set photos right here.
Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi, and it stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, with Jeff Goldblum and Cate Blanchett. Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters November 3, 2017.
