‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Tops Trailer Views In 24 Hours For Marvel & Disney

The first teaser trailer for Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok is now Marvel and Disney's record holder for most views in 24 hours.

This Monday, Marvel released the first teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok. The trailer certainly did its job in getting fans excited for the third solo Thor film, as it is not only Marvel’s most viewed trailer in 24 hours but its parent company Disney’s as well. For a studio that owns Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and all of the Disney live-action and animated catalog, that’s saying a lot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Thor: Ragnarok teaser racked up over 136 million views in only 24 hours. Disney’s previous record holder was the official trailer for Beauty and the Beast with 127.6 million views. Before that was the first full-length Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer with 112 million. Marvel’s previous 24-hour record holder was the second Captain America: Civil War trailer with 94 million views. With numbers like these, it looks like Disney just can’t lose.

The overall record holder currently belongs to the It trailer, which was just released a couple weeks ago. The Stephen King remake garnered 197 million views in 24 hours. However, all of these trailers might just be placeholders as there will no doubt be a new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer dropping soon with Star Wars Celebration Orlando taking place this weekend.

Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.

Directed by Taika Waititi, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston, Tessa Thompson, Idris Elba, Karl Urban, Anthony Hopkins and Jeff Goldblum.

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters November 3, 2017.
