‘Thor: The Dark World’: New Deleted Scene Shows Anthony Hopkins’ Odin On Earth

A brand new deleted scene from Thor: The Dark World shows Anthony Hopkins’ Odin on Earth.

Now that the Infinity Saga has been released on home video, fans have been able to find out all sorts of tidbits from their favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe films. One of the most interesting aspects of the Infinity Saga boxset is the bevy of deleted scenes it carries, truly showing how different films like Thor: The Dark World could have have been. Knowledge of a brand new deleted scene has surfaced, in which Anthony Hopkins’ Odin is seen on Earth, visiting Thor.

There isn’t much information of the deleted scene from Thor: The Dark World, especially considering the film went through numerous production issues and reshoots. From the screenshot, one can see Anthony Hopkins’ Odin on Earth, visiting his son Thor in his bedroom. You can check out the screenshot from Thor: The Dark World where Anthony Hopkins visits Thor below.

The context of this scene in which we see Anthony Hopkin’s Odin is uncertain, though this does indicate that he visited Earth prior to Thor: Ragnarok. It’s also uncertain if the Odin in this scene is Anthony Hopkins in the flesh or Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. In Thor: The Dark World, Loki genuinely passed away, but there was a change done via reshoots to have him impersonate Anthony Hopkins’ Odin. Thor: The Dark World had many changes during its production which could make this deleted scene obselete. However, it still would have been cool to see Odin on Earth in Thor: The Dark World.

The last time we saw Anthony Hopkins’ Odin on earth was in Thor: Ragnarok.

But first he must survive a deadly gladictorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson,  Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, and Anthony Hopkins.

The next film in the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder, is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 5, 2021.
