‘Titans’: Beast Boy Actor Sent In Tim Drake Audition Tapes For Ben Affleck’s ‘The Batman’

So much has been said about the tumultuous journey in bringing a new standalone Batman film to life. For a while, Ben Affleck was set to direct himself in The Batman from a script he co-wrote with Geoff Johns. Unfortunately, those plans fell through and Affleck departed the director’s chair and Matt Reeves stepped in from there. When Affleck was still directing, Titans star Ryan Potter sent in his own audition videos in the hopes that he could play Tim Drake in the film.

Geoff Johns was at New York Comic Con promoting the upcoming release of Titans, where he reflected back on when Potter sent in tapes to play Tim Drake back when he and Affleck were still working on The Batman:

You can check out a Tim Drake concept video that Potter participated in back in 2016 when Affleck was still attached to direct The Batman down below:

As it stands now, Affleck’s future as the Caped Crusader remains ever-so mysterious. Even though it has been well over a year and a half since he stepped down, it’s still fun imagining how cool it would’ve been if he was still directing and Tim Drake was in fact part of the story. Who knows? Maybe Potter would’ve played him to.

Either way, it was still serendipitous that after sending in Tim Drake tapes, Potter ended up joining a DC property in the end. Are you excited to see him bring Beast Boy to life in Titans? The series stars Brenton Thwaites as Richard “Dick” Grayson / Robin, Anna Diop as Koriand’r / Starfire, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth / Raven, and Ryan Potter as Garfield “Gar” Logan / Beast Boy.

Titans premieres on Friday, October 12 on the DC Universe.
