Tom Cruise surfaced as a rumored contender for Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern Corps film last year. The actor was rumored to be in talks to join the project under the condition that Warner Bros. changed the version of the script they had at the time so that Hal Jordan would not die in the film.
Since then, no news regarding Tom Cruise potentially joining the project has come forward, but you can check out the image below to see what Tom Cruise could look like as the DCEU’s Green Lantern Hal Jordan.
The long in development Green Lantern Corps is rumored to be a buddy-cop movie with an older, experienced Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern training the young recruit John Stewart in the ways of the Corps. The project is currently in development at Geoff Johns’ Mad Ghost Productions. While Tom Cruise is one of the only actors to have been rumored for the role of Hal Jordan yet, many actors have thrown his their hat in the ring to play John Stewart including Ricky Whittle, Common, Trevante Rhodes, Sterling K. Brown, and of course Tyrese Gibson.
Green Lantern Corps is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films, including The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Black Adam, Supergirl, New Gods, and Nightwing. Meanwhile, production on DC’s Birds of Prey spin-off titled Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) starring Margot Robbie is currently underway.

The DCEU continues forward with Aquaman which is now playing and will be followed by Shazam! on April 5, 2019, Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
As for Tom Cruise himself, the actor is currently working on the long-awaited sequel to Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick. Tom Cruise will star in the film along with Miles Teller, Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Monica Barbaro, Thomasin McKenzie, Charles Parnell, Jay Ellis, Bashir Salahuddin, Danny Ramirez, Jon Hamm, and Ed Harris. In addition, Tom Cruise is already set to return for Mission: Impossible sequels with an Edge of Tomorrow sequel in development as well.
