Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ Looking To Restart Production This September

Simon Pegg has revealed that Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 7 is expected to restart production this September.

Earlier this year, Paramount made the decision to halt production on the next chapter of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible series due to concerns over Covid-19. During a recent interview with Variety, Cruise’s co-star Simon Pegg mentioned that the film is set to start filming again this September, with the beginning of the shoot focusing on outdoor scenes.

“That will begin with the outdoor stuff. That feels fairly doable, and obviously there will be precautions put in place.”

Pegg then added the following regarding how the people behind the movie will be able to film close proximity scenes for the action flick:

“People that are involved in any close proximity stuff, it will have to be determined that they’re safe to do that. I don’t know what the testing situation is, how that works, or whether they’ll be able to be tested regularly.”

Recently, Titans star Esai Morales joined the cast of Mission: Impossible 7 to replace Nicholas Hoult, who had to drop out of the movie due to scheduling conflicts caused by the shutdown. Details about the role are being kept under wraps, but Morales is said to be playing a villain.

In addition to losing Nicholas Hoult, Paramount also had to delay Mission: Impossible 7 by four months because of the coronavirus shutdown. The film was originally slated to hit theaters in July 2021 but will now debut in November that same year.

Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, MI7 is set to star Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Vanessa Kirby and Henry Czerny. Mission: Impossible 8 is also in the works at Paramount, with McQuarrie on board to return as writer and director.
