Tom Cruise Teams With SpaceX To Shoot Movie In Space

Action star Tom Cruise has teamed up Elon Musk’s SpaceX to shoot a movie in space.

Tom Cruise has been pushing himself for years, constantly and consistently finding new ways to challenge himself when filming new projects. Some of Cruise’s most insane stunts seen in the Mission: Impossible films include hanging from an airplane, climbing the Burj Khalifa, and piloting a helicopter. At this point, the only thing the man hasn’t done is go to space and he’s already on top of that!

Deadline reports that Tom Cruise has teamed up with SpaceX and NASA to film a narrative feature film in space. The film is set to be an action adventure picture, though no studio has currently attached itself to the project. The outlet also confirmed that this won’t be a Mission: Impossible film. The project is in the early stages of development and has no other key individuals attached at the moment.

SpaceX is the brainchild of Elon Musk, one of the most illustrious innovators and inventors of the past decade. It makes absolute sense that Tom Cruise would partner with SpaceX considering they’re a privatized corporation and can set their own agenda and requirements.

Both Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 have been delayed due to the coronavirus so there’s no telling when this SpaceX project will begin to roll cameras. Of course, it’s best for everyone if Cruise and SpaceX take the time and diligence needed to make this as perfect as possible. They’ve also yet to assemble a cast and crew. After all, you only get one shot to make the first film to be shot in outer space.

Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible 7 stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Nicholas Hoult, Vanessa Kirby, and Henry Czerny.

Mission: Impossible 7 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on November 19, 2021. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding Tom Cruise and the SpaceX project and be sure to check out and subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for new video content!
