Tom Hardy’s ‘Venom 2’ Gets Official Title & New Release Date

Sony has moved the release date on Tom Hardy’s Venom 2 back to June 2021 and announced the official title of the sequel.

Production on the sequel to Tom Hardy’s Venom officially commenced in November 2019 and was able to conclude before the industry-wide filming shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic. While a release date for Venom 2 had yet to be officially announced, it was widely assumed that the sequel would hit theaters on October 2, 2020, a slot Sony has previously reserved for an Untitled Marvel film.

However, Sony has now announced that the release date for Tom Hardy’s Venom 2 has been pushed back to June 25, 2021. Furthermore, the studio also revealed the official tile of the sequel will be Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Of course, few fans need to be reminded that the title refers to fan-favorite villain Carnage, who will be the primary antagonist to Tom Hardy’s Venom in the upcoming sequel following his brief appearance in the post-credits scene of the first film. Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage is set to be the third installment of the studio’s Universe of Marvel Characters following the first film and Jared Leto’s Morbius.

Directed by Andy Serkis from a script written by Kelly Marcel, Venom 2 stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Naomie Harris as Shriek, and Woody Harrelson as Carnage.
