Avengers: Age of Ultron featured most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but one key member was missing; Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. Hiddleston had filmed a cameo for Ultron but the scene was cut from the film, along with other Thor related scenes. The actor went in-depth about his experience on Ultron and why his scene didn’t make it to the final cut of the film.
“It was a dream sequence. It was part of Thor’s nightmare. And there was a bit where – how does it work? – I think somewhere in that film Scarlet Witch shows all the Avengers their sort of worst case scenario. Thor has a dream and meets Loki, and it’s terrifying for him.”
The main reason for Loki not appearing in the film was that Kevin Feige wanted to prevent audience confusion.
“As they were testing the film, the initial audiences were like ‘Oh, Loki is controlling Ultron!’ And Kevin Feige and all the guys at Marvel were like ‘Um, no, he’s not’. So they just thought it was confusing.”
For fans wanting more Hiddleston, Loki will be appearing in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. The actor finally joined Instagram and decided to celebrate the occasion by sharing an image of himself in full costume as Loki on the set of Thor: Ragnarok. We haven’t seen the God of Mischief since the closing moments of 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, but Hiddleston looks just as excited as we are about the fact that he’s finally returning to the role after all this time.
