Earlier this year, Warner Bros. officially cast Robert Pattinson as the next Caped Crusader for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. While most were thrilled by casting decision considering Robert Pattinson’s recent performances, others are having a difficult time seeing the former Twilight star as Batman.
However, Spider-Man star Tom Holland expressed his support for Robert Pattinson during a Q&A session for GQ. When responding to a question about how he would fare as Batman, Tom Holland stated that he would not do as well in the role as Robert Pattinson, whom the Spider-Man star believes is going to “kill it” as the Dark Knight:
“Well, I wouldn’t be as good as my friend Robert Pattinson. He’s going to kill it as Batman. I don’t even know if that’s actually true. Is he actually playing Batman? He is? That’s sick. He’s gonna kill it. And I wouldn’t want to go up against him. ‘Cause he’s a bit of a beast.”

Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman and the Penguin. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New Gods, and Nightwing.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
