Tom Holland Wants His Spider-Man To Fight Venom And Doctor Octopus

Although Tobey Maguire's version of Spider-Man took on Doctor Octopus and Venom, Tom Holland would like to fight them both in later movies.

When asked about what two supervillains Tom Holland would like his iteration of Spider-Man to fight the most, the answers were surprisingly a bit familiar – and they were both previously featured in the Sam Raimi trilogy.

Screen Rant has been on a roll with Spider-Man: Homecoming interviews as of late, and at one point they got a chance to talk with Spider-Man actor Tom Holland about who he’d like to fight while he plays Spider-Man. He answered with two of the most popular villains in the webslinger’s Rogues’ Gallery:

“Oh, well I love Doc Ock. I think Spider-Man 2 is one of the greatest superhero movies ever made. But I think Venom is someone I’d love to kick the crap out of one day.”

Of these two, it’s easier to imagine that Doctor Octopus will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future. Venom is probably a more complicated point as long as Sony continues with their questionably-advised, MCU-free spin-offs, as Sony evidently has their own plans for the character. It’s incredibly unlikely that the Sony-Verse movies are going to cross over into the MCU or vice-versa, so it’s still possible that Marvel will want to have their own take on Venom at a much later point in time.

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters on July 7, 2017. The film features a cast that includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker (Spider-Man), Robert Downey Junior as Tony Stark (Iron Man), Zendaya Coleman as Michelle, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Tony Revolori as “Flash” Thompson, Laura Harrier as Liz Allan, Marisa Tomei as May Parker, Jon Favreau as Harold “Happy” Hogan, Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes (Vulture), Bokeem Woodbine as Herman Schultz (Shocker), and Michael Chernus as Phineas Mason (Tinkerer). A sequel is planned for release on July 5, 2019.
