Spider-Man has been portrayed by a handful of actors over the years. Tobey Maguire played Spider-Man three times for director Sam Raimi and Andrew Garfield played him twice for director Marc Webb. After Spider-Man: Far From Home opens in July, Tom Holland will have played the Marvel hero a record-breaking four times.
The number will be bumped up to five appearances if Tom Holland’s Spider-Man does show up in Avengers: Endgame. The character is expected to make his MCU return in that film but no official footage or images of the character in the film have been released just yet.
New promo art for Spider-Man: Far From Home has arrived via Instagram to get fans hyped for Tom Holland’s new suit that he’ll be wearing in the film this July. Check out the new costume in the awesome promo art below.
Although Tom Holland has played Spider-Man more than twice, Far From Home will only be his second solo movie, after 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tom Holland’s wall-crawling Marvel hero also appeared in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.
In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland’s titular Marvel hero wore a blue-and-red costume that resembled his iconic comic-book look. As fans can see in the promo image above, as well as in the official trailers, Tom Holland will now be donning a red-and-black Spidey costume in Spider-Man: Far Far Home.
Tom Holland’s new costume resembles the Spider-Man suit seen in the comic Superior Spider-Man, which featured Doc Ock taking over Peter Parker’s body. Although the costumes look similar, there’s been no hint yet that Spider-Man: Far From Home will be taking more from that comic than the Spidey suit.
