“We hope so. Optimus Prime is a tricky one because he’s so wise and smart that is hard to decide how to create an emotional story around him”
Di Buenaventura also spoke about capitalizing on the ’80’s original Transformers animated series and how they wanted to bring back that style and into the movie universe. On that note he said they’re going to keep making Transformers movies for the franchise:
“Yeah, we’re also gonna do a big Transformers movie as well”
A spin-off starring the most popular and powerful of the Autobots that pays homage to the classic animated series would be a great movie to see indeed; maybe we can even see more of Cybertron’s history in the process!
Bumblebee is the highest rated Transformers movie on Rotten Tomatoes right now and officially certified “Fresh” with a 93% approval rating from critics as of press time. This rating seems to point the franchise in the right direction as director Travis Knight changed the tone of Michael Bay from big explosions and ludicrous plots to a more grounded and emotional story.
Directed by Travis Knight from a script written by Christina Hodson, the film stars Hailee Steinfeld, Pamela Adlon, John Cena, Stephen Schneider, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Jason Ian Drucker, Kenneth Choi, Ricardo Hoyos, Abby Quinn, Rachel Crow, and Grace Dzienny.
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.
Bumblebee will be released in theaters on December 21, 2018.
