The Twilight Zone reboot, which has languished in a twilight zone of development snags, is now moving forward again with a screenplay by a Fringe writer.
Warner Brothers has finally found a new screenwriter for its movie reboot of The Twilight Zone, the famous horror anthology series.
Variety is reporting that Christine Lavaf will be handling work on the screenplay. Lavaf is most well-known for her work on Fringe, as she wrote the episode “Everything In Its Right Place” and served as an assistant to showrunner J. H. Wyman. Lavaf’s other credits include writing and producing the short film The Valet, serving as a writer’s assistant for the fourth season of Falling Skies, and being a part of the writer’s room for the MonsterVerse (the shared universe made up of Godzilla, King Kong, and characters from other kaiju franchises).
The Twilight Zone reboot was first announced in 2009 with an initial team of director Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy, Oblivion) and writer Anthony Peckham (Invictus, Sherlock Holmes), but nothing came of this. While Lavaf is taking over writing duties, the film doesn’t have a director at this time. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran will be producing the movie under their production company, Appian Way.
The film will differ from the previous Twilight Zone movie adaptation (which was directed by John Landis in 1983) in that it will tell a single narrative instead of serving as a horror anthology. However, it can be presumed that if the project is successful, then potential sequels could explore different settings within the fictional narrative of this world.
The Twilight Zone does not have a release date.
