Tyrese Gibson Thinks He Has A Shot At Green Lantern

For many months now, Tyrese Gibson has been campaigning for the role of Green Lantern/John Stewart in the DC Extended Universe by posting fan-art of himself as the superhero. Surprisingly, he even ended up having multiple meetings with Warner Bros. over the past few months about possibly playing the character, so we haven’t heard much about him for quite some time… well, up until now.

In a recent interview with Larry King, Tyrese once again reiterated that there have been meetings between him and the studio, but this time around he even claims that he has a real shot at the coveted role, even though he hasn’t even spoken to Zack Snyder yet:

Tyrese: A fan. And I was like, ‘Woah, that looks cool.’ And I posted it on my Instagram, and it just went crazy — over 1,500 sites. And it was just all of this buzz, and I was like I might as well run with this thing. And I did. Pissed the people off, a little bit, at Warner Brothers because they thought that I had convinced the world that I had landed the role, which I didn’t. And I said, “If you go down my timeline, at no point did I say the role is mine.” But, you know, there have been other artists, actors and actresses who have put up images of them as a comic book character and ended up landing a role. So I was like, it’s worth giving it a shot.

Larry: So, have you heard from Zack Snyder?

Tyrese: No. I did meet with Warner Brothers, though.

Larry: And?

Tyrese: And…um…shoot me a prayer, Larry.

Larry: You got a shot?

Tyrese: I do.

What do you guys think? Would you like to see Tyrese as John Stewart or would you prefer to see someone else in the role? Sound-off your thoughts in the comment section.
