Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters continues next with the release of Morbius, a new film centered on the iconic Spider-Man villain starring Jared Leto as the Living Vampire. Joining the cast of the Sony film is Fast and Furious star Tyrese Gibson as FBI agent Simon Stroud, who is tasked with hunting down Morbius.
This incarnation of Simon Stroud will come equipped with a weapons-grade arm that gives the character abilities to help in his mission. During an interview with Maxim, Tyrese Gibson teased what fans can expect from the arm and commented on finally portraying a superhero:
“That arm has all kinds of special effects and powers, and that’s going to mess people up when they see this movie. It’s my first time ever officially being a superhero. I’ve done some superhero shit, but I ain’t never been a superhero. I had to explain this to my daughter.”
Tyrese Gibson also humorously commented on the character being white in the comics, saying, “I like to say he was a white guy who got a really good tan.”
Here is the official synopsis for Jared Leto’s Morbius:
One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
Directed Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius stars Jared Leto as the lead anti-hero, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster while Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.
Morbius is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on March 19, 2021. Sty tuned for the latest news regarding Jared Leto’s Morbius and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
