Tyrese Gibson Has Met With Warner Bros. About Being In 'Green Lantern Corps' Movie. 'Green Lantern Corps' is scheduled for a 2020 release.
There is still no real concrete news about the Green Lantern Corps movie, but Tyrese Gibson recently spoke with Syfy Wire and mentioned that he’s “had a couple of meetings” with Warner Bros. about being in the film.
“Yeah, I would love to do it. Ya know I had a couple of meetings at Warner about it. I just think that they’re still trying to figure out what the move is. I would love to officially confirm but I can’t, and if they go in a different direction, I think they know what’s best for the movie, but the fans started this campaign and all I’ve done is made use of my social media to let folks know that I’m interested.”
Presumably, Gibson would be playing the John Stewart version of Green Lantern in the film. The Fate of the Furious actor has been vocal about possibly being in the film and has used his celebrity status on social media to make his interest known to the important people responsible for casting. Gibson isn’t betting on getting the role, but he sounds hopeful. Whatever happens, he tried.
Green Lantern Corps is currently set to come out on July 24, 2020. David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel) and Justin Rhodes (Contract Killers) wrote the screenplay, based on a story treatment by Goyer and DC Films co-head Geoff Johns.
