Universal Pictures has announced their new cinematic universe full of gods and monsters will be known as the Dark Universe.

The Mummy reboot directed by Alex Kurtzman will kick off the Dark Universe and lay the groundwork for the upcoming films based on the classic monster flicks produced by the studio in the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s.

The studio has also confirmed that Beauty and the Beast director Bill Condon will helm Bride of Frankenstein from a script penned by David Koepp. An actress playing the role of the Bride has not yet been confirmed but will be announced soon. The second installment of the Dark Universe is set to debut February 14, 2019.

In addition, Universal has unveiled a new motion logo for the Dark Universe accompanied by a theme from composer Danny Elfman. The new logo will run before each film in the franchise beginning with The Mummy. You can check it out below.

The studio also released a photo revealing that joining Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, and Sofia Boutella in the Dark Universe will be Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man and Javier Bardem as Frankenstein’s Monster.

The Mummy will feature Boutella as Princess Ahmanet, an Egyptian Princess who was imprisoned when she summoned a great evil and murdered her father after he failed to uphold his promise to make her pharaoh after he sired a son. The ancient evil is unleashed on the world after Ahmanet’s tomb is discovered by Nick Morton (Cruise) and at the center of it all will be Crowe as Dr. Jekyll, the head of a society dedicated to fighting monsters known as Prodigium that will serve as to place the film within a larger context into a world that has been dealing with monsters for a very long time.

The film also stars Jake Johnson, Annabelle Wallis, Courtney B. Vance and Russell Crowe. Here’s the official synopsis:
