Many fans were taken by surprise when it was revealed that a new Deadpool movie was being released this December, a month already crowded with huge blockbusters like Aquaman, Mary Poppins Returns, Bumblebee, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Fans were even more surprised to find out that it’s not a new Deadpool movie and will instead be a PG-13 recut of Deadpool 2 as told by Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) to Fred Savage in the style of The Princess Bride.
If you were still in doubt that this was happening, you’re in for another surprise today. The first poster for Once Upon A Deadpool has been released and it’s just as hilariously insane as the movie sounds. Of course, the “zero f’s given” joke is a reference to the fact that the film will skirt around the R-rated material in the original cut, which is sure to make for a very interesting kind of movie experience. Check out the first poster below via the 20th Century Fox Twitter account.
The idea of a PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 may sound like the equivalent of dragging nails across a chalkboard for some fans but knowing Reynolds’ love for the character, many fans are expecting this new cut to be an extra treat as opposed to an insult to the blockbuster sequel that earned a whopping $734 million at the worldwide box office. To make it even less cynical, Reynolds revealed that a cut of the proceeds will go to a cancer foundation, the details for which you can find here.
