Val Kilmer Says He Would ‘Love To’ Play Batman Again

Batman Forever star Val Kilmer weighs in on if he would ever consider playing the Dark Knight again, if given the opportunity.

For my money, Ben Affleck is the best on-screen Batman we’ve ever seen. However, if Affleck does decide to hang up his cape and cowl in the next couple of years, Val Kilmer is waiting in the wings to step right in and try them back on for old time’s sake.

During a recent Reddit AMA, when Batman Forever star Val Kilmer was asked whether he would play Batman one more time if asked, the actor simply responded, “love to.”

Truthfully, I wouldn’t consider Val Kilmer’s Batman to be the worst. It wasn’t great, but it’s hard to sink lower than the Caped Crusader’s portrayal in Joel Schumacher’s latter Batman film, Batman & Robin, in which George Clooney played the Dark Knight. On the other hand, I would consider Michael Keaton, Christian Bale and Adam West to be amongst the best, for what each of their versions of the character was. Still, Affleck’s portrayal manages to check off more boxes for me, so I’m hoping Kilmer doesn’t have to step in to replace him anytime soon.

Affleck’s Batman can next be seen this November in Justice League. Here’s the synopsis:

“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Amber Heard as Mera, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielson as Queen Hippolyta, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

Justice League opens in theaters on Friday, November 17.
