Venom has since out-grossed superhero films such as Justice League and Wonder Woman and has also made more than Sony’s two Amazing Spider-Man films and is nearing the worldwide box office totals of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Now, Venom has reached another impressive box office milestone. The film now has an overseas total of $638.6 million with a worldwide total of $851.3 million.
Although Sony Pictures has reserved two untitled Marvel projects for 2020, it is unknown if either of those two slots will be for a sequel to Venom. Given the box office success of the film, which now ranks as the fifth highest-grossing film of 2018, it is likely that Sony will greenlight a sequel and Tom Hardy is interested in reprising his role.

Venom follows Eddie Brock as he attempts to revive his journalism career by investigating the Life Foundation only to come into with an alien symbiote that bonds with him, granting him powers and transforming him into the titular anti-hero.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script written by Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Ron Cephas Jones, and Woody Harrelson.
