In October 2018, Sony launched its Universe of Marvel Characters with Venom, which received mixed reviews from moviegoers but proved to be a box office success. Now, Sony is moving ahead with another entry in its Marvel franchise titled Morbius, which stars Academy Award winner Jared Leto as the titular Living Vampire.
Of course, fans are eager to see if Venom might appear in Morbius and while that remains unknown for the time being, a recent set photo from the Jared Leto film reveals a nod to the Spider-Man foe. In the photo, Venom graffiti art can be seen painted on the wall with the character’s name clearly written underneath the artwork.
Check out the Venom easter egg below.
Venom will return in a sequel to the original film due to be released in theaters on October 2, 2020. Directed by Andy Serkis from a script written by Kelly Marcel, Venom 2 stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Naomie Harris as Shriek, and Woody Harrelson as Carnage.
Here is the official synopsis for Morbius:
One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.
Directed Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius stars Jared Leto as the lead anti-hero, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster while Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.
Morbius is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on March 19, 2021.
