Deadline reports that tracking and industry estimates indicate that Sony’s Venom is on course for a $60 million to $70 million opening.
Venom will mark Sony’s second attempt at bringing the fan-favorite anti-hero to the big screen and the film is currently strongest among younger and older males, though it is also very strong with females. According to tracking numbers, definite interest in Venom is in the mid-50s.
The outlet reports that Sony insiders are being conservative with their estimates as no other October release has been able to surpass the opening gross of Gravity.
