‘Venom’ Behind The Scenes Clip Shows Tom Hardy Performing Pre-VFX

Sony Pictures’ blockbuster film Venom has over performed at the box office, surpassing many people’s expectations and has cemented Sony still as a major player in the comic book film genre today. Despite mixed reviews from critics, audiences seemed to have enjoyed the film, much of which is thanks to its unique central performance from Academy Award-nominee Tom Hardy.

Hardy, who is no stranger to the comic book movie genre thanks to his role as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises took an interesting approach in portraying Eddie Brock/Venom. The film tows the line between both lighthearted comedy and serious sci-fi as Hardy adds a surprising vulnerability to the character that is also made more intriguing when the symbiote is implemented.

With the upcoming home release for the film on the way, we now have some nice behind the scenes footage of the film. Here, we see Hardy acting out some of the scenes that involve the Venom symbiote before the VFX is put in post-production. It just goes to show you that Hardy is one of the most versatile performers in the business and will certainly bring more layers to the role in a sequel. Venom follows Eddie Brock as he attempts to revive his journalism career by investigating the Life Foundation only to come into with an alien symbiote that bonds with him, granting him powers and transforming him into the titular anti-hero.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script written by Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Ron Cephas Jones, and Woody Harrelson.
